Angie Knechtel, Elementary Band & Strings Director
Dr Knechtel and I came to Linfield 16 years ago to start a band program. We started with just a handful of students, and today there are well over a hundred growing musicians on all instruments! What a joy it has been to see our students gaining confidence, learning to read music and play an instrument!
As a young musician, I studied piano for most of my childhood, played violin and saxophone in school, and attended The Masters College as a Piano Performance major. I have been teaching students to play musical instruments for over 40 years. When not rehearsing Linfield instrumental groups, it has been so fun to teach the songs and play the piano for over 60 Linfield and CYT musical theater shows!
On the first day of school, Dr K and I celebrated 35 years of marriage. We are the blessed parents of four grown sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law and six adorable grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy reading out loud to him in the car, getting together with family, browsing antique shops, playing Scrabble in the mountains, and laughing right out loud!
We are so proud of the elementary band and strings! We have an extraordinary program in which elementary musicians are able to perform interesting and fun music many times throughout the school year at various places. What’s so great about the Linfield instrumental program is that for just the cost of the $175 annual fee, every student receives a semi-private lesson during the school day, group rehearsals before or after school, plus performances! Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We’d love to have every student involved!
